Road tolls in Iceland
In Iceland, there is only one toll road located in the north, connecting Akureyri and Húsavík. This toll applies when passing through the Vaðlaheiðargöng tunnel.
Paying this toll is straightforward and digital. An automated system records your car's license plate as you pass through the tunnel, enabling payment through an online process.

When to pay
- The trip remains active for 24 hours after payment.
- Payment must be completed within 24 hours of passing through.
- After this 24-hour period, an invoice will be sent to the vehicle's owner.
- Payments made before or after this 24-hour window are non-refundable.
Insert the license plate number
Please double-check the accuracy of your rental vehicle's license plate number when making your payment. Once a trip is paid for, it cannot be refunded due to incorrect entry of the license plate number.

No action is needed on your part. Simply verify that the license plate number you have entered is correct.
Insert your payment details
Once the payment is confirmed, you have 24 hours to use your trip.
